Keeping Your Resolutions | Goal Setting Template

Do you remember a month ago you were setting goals for 2011? Some New Year’s resolutions for yourself and some planning ahead for your business or career? Did you write these down or make a podcast recording of yourself speaking your goals out loud? Did you develop a goal setting template for yourself?

Cast your mind back and now reassess how you feel just over 30 days later: are your plans coming to fruition? Perhaps you quit the physical activity and weight loss goals mid January, but how about your business and career plans?

Visit JimRohn.com Today!

It’s time to set new mini goals: develop on from the plans you made in early January and create a checklist for each week ahead in February. What activity will bring your plan to reality and enable you to accomplish your goal? What would you most like to achieve in your marketing or sales this month? Establish a four step plan, one step per week, to achieve success.

Now think of the goals you have set yourself for 2011 and beyond: schedule four activities, one a week, which you can do in February to bring each desired goal nearer to achievement. Can you make one valuable new contact each week? Discuss your plans with someone critical? Project more sales team meetings or write more articles to promote your website through backlinking?

Look ahead and determine to close on the success you deserve by highlighting mini goals each week to enable you step by step to accomplish big goals for the year. To complete my Open University module this year I will study the required materials and complete the remaining assignments each month – so by this step by step approach to study I will complete the year’s work.

And you can break your big tasks into monthly assignments too!

Take a moment to reassess your long term goals and write an action plan of what you intend to achieve in February week by week. Create a checklist which you can refer to daily and post it in a clearly visible position in your office space, or stick this onto the outside of your laptop!

Develop your own goal setting template you can use today for this month, and then rinse and repeat every month this year so you can clearly see your plans come to fruition and your goals take shape as reality. I recommend not only writing down your step by step tasks to complete for each of the next four weeks but also print them out with boxes to check off and make a sound recording you can listen to in your car.

Listening back to your own voice speaking your goals, along with the tasks to do each week ahead is the most powerful affirmation you can make: it’s impossible to forget what you want to focus on when you repeatedly hear yourself on every journey you take!

If you manage a sales team you can make a recording and email it to your team members who can then convert it to a format they can listen to as they drive too. Awesome! Be inspiring and believe in your potential!

So I encourage you to prepare your own goal setting template you can roll out and use again and again. It may be as simple as printing out a To-Do list you place on your desk, or it may include recording yourself speak. Whatever will work for you every time. Let’s make 2011 the year to remember! Business, career and personal development goals can all be accomplished: little by little with repetition daily and weekly. Keep to your big picture vision! Adwello.
