“Every journey begins with the first step” Chinese proverb
How do you embark on that first step? First desire your destination! Decide where you want to go!
Plan the journey. What route will you take? What map will you use? Can you secure the advice of someone who has gone before you? Do some research before you begin but don’t allow anyone to dissuade you from travelling! Your self esteem grows with each positive step you take towards the goal you desire.
Now you know where your journey leads and how you will travel decide what materials or learning you require as you travel. What should you take with you? What do you need to know? Seek these ready to begin!
Now you are ready to start your journey. Wait! You know where you are going? Why do you want to go there? Unless your desire to reach your destination is sufficiently strong you will not take the whole journey so you will not arrive where you thought you wanted to arrive! You will arrive elsewhere or return home. How many times have you done this in your life?
It is good to start a journey that will take you to a destination that holds so much promise for you that you desire to get there above everything else in your life at present! Then you will be sure of arriving! No sense wandering about in the wilderness – better to stay on your sofa with a cool drink! Your self esteem will naturally plummet, but, hey, that’s the price of safety
You are sure of where you want to be? You desire that above all else? You are prepared for the journey? You are desperately anxious to arrive at your desired destination? It really matters to you? Then commence!
Take your first step and go.
It is good to have an eager desire to accomplish something!
So how can you promote this tremendous energizing power force of eager desire within your life today? Nothing can truly be accomplished really well without a determined surge of burning desire. A desire so strong it lights the inner fire within you and burns day and night until you accomplish the result you seek!
Do you ever really burn to accomplish anything? Want to begin?
“It is one of the most interesting facts about human nature that the more any man knows of any subject the more he wants to know. He multiplies his own pleasure as he multiplies his own knowledge. The physicist engaged upon a problem does not need an alarm clock to get him to the laboratory; wild horses would not keep him away. The artist experimenting with a new color effect will forget his meals, and his rest, and even his own family as he gets on the trail of what he has been seeking. I have a young friend in college whose enthusiasm is languages. He told me the other day that he has to arrange his studies so as to get the work of all other subjects done before he gets to his language studies because once he reaches them, he cannot put them aside.
The more an investment salesman knows about investments, the more thrilling he will find his work. The farm salesman who really knows livestock will get a new pleasure out of every herd he sees. The furniture salesman who knows arrangement and decoration will derive fresh and glowing satisfaction out of every home he helps to make more beautiful. Creative selling, by driving us to know more and more about our markets and the way to serve them, adds an extra dimension to our own joy in selling just as definitely as it adds an extra dimension of service to the customer.” Elmer G. Leterman – Master Salesman.
