Think about it! Everything? I’m sure some things you do succeed. Praise yourself for the things which go well and focus on the patterns you create when you succeed: can you repeat these patterns in other things you try?

Perhaps you always do well with people but not with things? Or the opposite? Perhaps your time keeping is poor but you have good health? See how you can apply the stuff that goes right to the stuff that goes bad.

Relax and take a deep breath when something goes wrong for you. Don’t beat yourself up. Don’t immediately feel bad – just focus on asking yourself how you could have done better! Start to turn your result into a positive. We can all make mistakes – it’s what you learn from your mistakes that counts.

Expect to succeed! How can you do that? Well, start to look closely at what sort of things you are trying to do. Does it fit in with your skills set? Do you need to learn new stuff? Is it no brainer?

Set yourself one or two NO BRAINER tasks this week and reward yourself when it goes well – can you see what you are doing now? You are reprogramming your brain for SUCCESS by setting a pattern where you succeed at no brainer tasks.

Then you set yourself other tasks that are a little bit more of a challenge but not much. You do these and succeed and your brain starts to expect SUCCESS IN EVERYTHING you do!

Because you get the success habit – you get the taste for doing well. You’ll be AMAZED at how quickly you program your new succeed at everything pattern! Use it well!

If you fail at something just analyse what you did and what you wanted and think what result you expected before you began. Go back to basics and do more easy tasks to restart the success pattern in your brain. THIS IS AMAZING! It really works, it’s FREE, and it is very very POWERFUL for you!

The ideal is never to attempt anything until you already feel a strong feeling of expecting to succeed. Can you see how important this is? So for a long time you only try easy stuff and do well at that so you expect yourself to succeed and you see yourself strongly as an achiever. This is how Kasparov became World Chess Champion – he built an inner belief system that he just couldn’t fail!

It’s amazing how strong and powerful your brain is but you first must program it well. Get into the right gear! If you want to go forward and your engine is stuck into reverse: FAIL! So check your expectation first. We can achieve almost anything step by step.

If there’s a girl you want to ask out then try easier girls first! Keep getting a YES until you are so confident you know you just CAN’T FAIL! What else can you do? Everything you want!

Being a private company, no official figures are publicly required until prior to its IPO which allows a certain margin for guess work from the financial institutions. The co founder, Mark Zuckerberg publicly claims he is more interested in growing the network at present than in making a profit, but how much further than 750 million users can a social site grow?

“There’s no point right now in having a massive profit,” Zuckerberg said.

However, one thing is certain: the profits are being leveraged from users freely signing up and giving their personal data first through registering and second through building their profile wall page with likes and dislikes including education details and sexual orientation. Advertisers claim this allows them to only show their promotions to potential buyers based on intimate demographics. 

How long will it take before the majority of users see through the hoax and pull their data offline? Can a diet of monotonous status updates and boring games requiring no skill continue to enthral the world’s online population? Is peer pressure behaviour enough to value this private company at $50 billion?

Although a considerable percentage of revenue is now coming in from Facebook Credits, the in house currency system, licensing the open platform to games developers like Zynga, and a new initiative based on offering coupons Groupon style, it is clear that the answer is a little more controversial.

I asked myself this very question this evening and I ran a Google search, simply typing into the search box: Why do bad things always happen to me?

Why can't you get a run of good fortune?

I only searched the first two pages on Google but I noticed every result seemed to be religious! It made me cross – why can’t we ask a valid philosophical question and leave religion out of it?

Look, if I asked “Why won’t my kettle work?” I would NOT want a religious diatribe on how God thinks I have sinned so he is punishing me by wrecking my kettle, nor do I want to hear that karma occurs and that for every action there is an opposite – what is the opposite of a kettle which does not work? A kettle which works! And that is what I’d be seeking – some practical tips on how to make my kettle work! Leave god, religion and karma out of it I say! What is the opposite of a kettle? But then a kettle is not an action but rather the result of actions taken to manufacture it. Karma! Whatever!

OK, so why would the Success Mindset Guru ask “Why do bad things always happen to me?”

Well, sometimes I feel like the ratio of good and bad things occurring in my life is seriously unbalanced on the bad things side, like the scales are weighed down with bad things! My Success Mindset suggests I analyse the why and wherefore and sort the situation out. But I do like to sort things out without involving god, karma and voodoo.

I’ve been thinking lately: how advanced humankind would be if we pulled together as one big team and left the voodoo stuff – the superstition – out of things and sought practical solutions instead of praying and hoping! What’s that expression “On a wing and a prayer”! That may be OK for situations where someone is seriously ill and in danger of death, but in every day situations there must be a practical solution so let’s find it and move on!

I guess this is a bit Tower of Babel – humankind works together and builds a tower and ends up scattered speaking new languages – well, now we have satellites and Google translation! Google translation is hilarious – try it! The point is, we are so stifled by religious fervour and plain superstition like “Ooer, be careful, don’t say that, what if…” it makes me so cross!

It feels to me like human beings would rather let their thought life go round in circles than arrive at a sensible practical approach to life. Too much sunshine? Let’s do a rain dance – maybe the rain god will favor us and send rain! You try that and I’ll read in the shade of my parasol, OK.

So let’s try and answer the big question without introducing god, religion, karma, superstition, or rain dances!

“Why do bad things always happen to me?”

You may have a habit of moaning, but as the Success Mindset Guru, I have built up a great habit of always looking on the bright side of things, and always crossing the street to walk on the sunny side. So I believe it takes a lot to weigh my buoyant inner spirit down to the point of asking such a big question! And really, all I want is a practical solution: I want to arrive at a place in my life where a lot more good things happen to me than bad things happen to me.

I can happily accept occasional bad things happening: I can work my way over them and the experience helps me to grow. But too many bad things happening just annoys me! It frustrates the f*** out of me, in fact. And I don’t swear, so you can see, I am pretty worked up about this inbalance of badness in my life just now!

So let’s philosophize about this without the voodoo creeping in.

First off, I’d like to say it is obviously a state of mind to say “always” because there is also a constant flow of good things happening like breathing fresh air, and seeing the light, and having some degree of physical fitness – there’s one’s network of friends and family and business contacts – there’s one’s possessions, and deep inside you there is that which no one can take away – the person you are out of all the experience you’ve had – your personality, your character, your sense of humor.

You may have fresh water to drink, food to eat, somewhere to live, and internet connection. All very good things! But right now you have an inbalance of bad situations occurring. Let’s sort it out, solve the problem, feel good about ourselves: OK!

What do other people say?

Deity religions would suggest God cares about you, it’s not all bad, he’s testing you, you’ll survive, you need to look inside yourself and get saved (before you die). All well and good but not a practical solution that I am seeking.

Buddhism would suggest karma and self enlightenment – you need to follow the way – go inside yourself and fine tune your reaction – and anyway, eventually you’ll rebirth as a new self so ultimately problem solved. Interesting approach but I want a “fix it now” answer!

Superstition would suggest you throw salt over your left shoulder, turn the change in your pocket, avoid wearing red and resist looking at the new moon through glass – does this mean anything to you? If a bird flies into your house, you’re doomed anyway. Colorful, but too impractical for my taste!

Law of Attraction aficionados would suggest that you have attracted all the bad things by dwelling on them like “That which I greatly feared has come upon me.” To change the situation around you have to change your thoughts around. Does that do anything for you? I’m the Success Mindset Guru, the ultimate positive thinker, and this Law of Attraction nonsense is utter bunk to me. More voodoo than practical living. I do NOT believe you manifest bad things through your thoughts.

NLP would suggest you need to model successful people and duplicate their beliefs, thoughts, nervous activity, and actions – so successful people don’t have bad days, right? Think again! I’m very successful and sometimes, like now, the bad stuff piles up until I am angry mad about it!

OK, so I begin to perceive it like this:- as well as the bad things happening there is a lot of very good things going on which we tend not to notice such as breathing fresh air and drinking clean water. So by dwelling on these simple realities we can immediately shift the focus from feeling victimized to feeling part of a bountiful good universe. I find that is a BIG help to begin with.

Next I always find writing my thoughts down, or typing into notepad, or onto a blog like this, helpful. Putting words into writing clarifies my thoughts. It helps me make a bullet list of steps to take towards a practical solution – an action plan! Taking persistent action scares the s*** out of voodoo, I’ve often noticed that. Voodoo thrives on negativity like mold thrives on waste products.

Next I ask myself what a wise viewpoint would suggest. To trigger this, I imagine myself in twenty years’ time looking back on my present situation and seeing it all in the light of hindsight. To help me achieve this accurately I look back right now at similar bad situations I faced and conquered twenty years ago. How do I feel about those now? How do I feel about myself and my achievements?

Self esteem builds a platform we can stand upon solidly whilst the ground shifts beneath our feet.

When too many bad things occur to you one after another resulting in you being pushed to your lowest ebb spiritually then your self esteem suffers. Build yourself up again by dwelling on bad situations you have faced in the past and think how you conquered those situations. Now think of a time when everything went well for you. Can you notice any patterns? Can you think what you can do right now to help yourself in your current situation?

The best solutions for YOU always come from your inner depths!

But sometimes a solution is triggered by a memory or by a person counselling you or inspiring you. Sometimes I wish there was a person I could turn to who would just empathize with me. I have many close friends and relatives but I have no one I can trust to go through despondency with me. Perhaps I have to do this all by myself. I believe these experiences give me a lot of empathy for other people who suffer. That has to be a good result!

I want an answer and I want a solution!

To be honest, if I can get a solution – a method to turn my situation around to good, then I can happily wait for a future time to receive an answer since a solution is practical whereas an answer is only theoretical. Perhaps there is no answer because the question is not logical. It only seems that bad things always happen to me – I know good things are also taking place – air and water for example – so the reality is that this very question is prompted by a state of mind: it is the result of immense built up frustration with a surfeit of difficulties.

Too many difficulties one after another give a person no chance to rebound and sometimes the result is you lose a lot of money, energy, time, and self confidence. Bad situations do not always come about as a result of our choices – sometimes they just happen by chance. That doesn’t make YOU a bad person! It doesn’t make you a good person either. You are neither good nor bad – you just live!

So if you are neither good nor bad – imagine if the situations you face were neither good nor bad – they just exist! It’s the result that you experience before taking action to propel yourself into a good situation that seems so bad! So frustrating. Like no matter how much you try, s*** happens. And happens again, and again, and again! Where there’s life there’s hope. See a good time in your future. You are going to totally focus on this future good situation and you are going to propel yourself forward and make it happen! Action will dispel the voodoo!

I find it very annoying right now that so much gunk happened to me recently but I am going to put my emotions aside and focus on a good situation I can easily imagine taking shape 3 months from now. I will live in a different house in a different area and I will have more mobility (at present my right leg has almost no use following a severe sciatic attack I suffered a year ago) and I will earn more money from products I am developing and I will have much higher self esteem. Excellent!

I find I can easily believe in this rosy future becoming real just 3 months from now, maybe sooner. So since I truly believe in this new reality, shall I trouble much about the present one? I’m going to turn my troubles around and make good things predominate for myself.

See, I am being realistic by accepting that an unusually high quantity of bad things have happened to me in the last two years (my car was written off in an accident with a motorcycle, all my tools and contact details were seized and I went out of business as a tiler – but hey, I sustained no physical injury, just a cartload of financial misery) – and now I am seeking a practical solution.

I am not surrendering to feeling sorry for myself. I am not bothering to wonder why the rain god seems to be victimizing me. I couldn’t care less about karma since I don’t believe there is such a thing. I don’t believe in Attraction and I am skeptical about NLP. Religion is mainly philosophical blithering to me. I do believe in the effects of high and low self esteem and I do believe in creating an action plan to unfold the reality of a bright vision I choose for my future good, and I do believe in substituting spiritual misery with persistent purposeful action.

OK, so even if it is actually true that bad things always happen to me, that’s not the reality I desire. I desire good in my life! Abundance and peace and happiness and opportunity and creativity. - let’s choose to only focus on these five key elements of experiencing success! Write some of your thoughts down so far. Write some good things down and start making bullet points for an action plan to arrest your focus: feel good about who you are and envision a great glorious situation you want to accomplish 2 or 3 months from now. Make it very real in your imagination so it begins to take hold of you and shake you up

How do you feel now?

Look, how would anyone ever know why bad things happen? Chance plays a part in your life. Refuse to feel victimized. Determine to provide your own solution for yourself by envisioning a glorious good situation ahead and develop a step by step action plan – or just determine to do whatever it takes to bring about this wonderful good situation for yourself. Draw it, doodle it, enjoy it! Be drawn towards it! Grab it!

Sometimes we lose confidence and the world looks gray. That’s normal! Highs and lows. Elation and frustration. Grow through this. You are not seriously seeking the answer to the question “Why do bad things always happen to me?” After all, how can knowing the reason help you? What you are really asking for is the helping hand to get onto a solid platform of positivity where you can bounce back at life and begin to feel good and enjoy yourself again without a care and without self reproach.

Am I right? Is this you right now?

You are seeking a solution – a resolution to resolve your difficulties and bring about wealth and success and happiness for yourself where bad things rarely trouble you.

Envision how you really want things to be 2-3 months ahead and get fired up about how good you will then feel, gotten out of all this s***! Decide to make it happen for yourself. Punch the air! Feel strong! Go for a walk or a run and listen to some humor. Despondency droops its shoulders so stand tall and expect to win through.

What does it matter if some voodoo hippy rain god takes a dislike to you and sends bad things your way? Show what you’re made of! Strength and resolution! Self belief and expectation! Good results! Rain gods soon get bored of the Success Mindset champion and go pick on some real lowlife! And you get to savor the good exquisite taste of conquering evil and enjoying the fruits of success!

YEEHAH!

Your future sure looks good to me! How’s it feeling to you now? Trot along and sing a loud song – what’s your favorite song to sing? Shift your mood and you get into the right gear for your journey to success – not no way you going uphill in fifth gear so change down to first or second!

My conclusion is that the question “Why do bad things always happen to me?” is going to sabotage your life efforts if you let it do so! It’s an illogical question, because they don’t! Instead shift your focus onto the good situation you want and then fire yourself up to achieve that good situation no matter what it takes! When a team player sustains an injury the team bring on a substitute – substitution is a great remedy to resume the game! Replace gloom with determination and make your life change around now for the better. Be cheerful even if you have to crack your face to smile.

Believe in yourself. You’re fantastic! Love yourself! Go help someone else out of trouble now. Things are gonna change around real quick for you now, and when they do, I want you to get your fat butt back here and write me a good long comment about how these practical non religious tips have helped you enjoy real success at last! Make things easy, feel pleased with small accomplishments and know your ability to achieve will grow steadily as time goes by. Walk then run: it really is a gradual process.

My third How To Succeed tip today is to surround yourself with positive empathetic persons who uplift your spirit throughout the day, and surround yourself with beautiful and positive images such as motivational posters in your office. Our main reason for failure is distraction. Only allow before you that which will enable you to easily accomplish the day’s set tasks. Then you can go home accomplished and switch onto other pursuits!

Look into your personal life: are your reasons for success in business poignant enough in your private life? If not, maybe it’s time to recharge and start some new interests – get out and meet new people, take up a new hobby. Never allow yourself to become listless for this condition is the beginning of a rut and you need to avoid anything remotely like a rut if you wish to remain positively charged and ready to up and at them!

What do you believe in confidence about quotes? Do you read daily quotes or follow quotes on Twitter? Do you believe quotes?

Quotes are simply something someone has said at some time about something, a saying which has been recorded and handed down. A few quotes are anonymous but most quotes you read in books or online feature the name of the person they are accredited to. You can even build a list of sayings by one person, and that in turn can give you a shrewd insight into their personality! You may even feel their beliefs mirror the attitudes of the time in which they lived. Reading and collecting quotes is a fascinating pastime!

What do you believe? Do you believe quotes help you, are they over-rated, or do they waste your time and distract you from your own opinions and whatever you feel you should really focus on? And quotes about confidence – can they really help you boost your self esteem? What is your experience?

I believe quotes can easily distract me from my day’s work! There is a lot of powerful persuasion in the one liner proverb and it is easy to become a believer in that idea, whereas in reality it only represents the views of an individual at a certain time and in a particular situation and really has no direct relevance on anything or anyone else at all!

It is tempting to follow the belief inherent in a short pithy quip, but in fact, it may well lead you astray from your core belief on that subject. So because of the subliminal influence of witty quotations, I actually limit the number I read in any one day. After all, if you read a great many, they will all disagree with one another!

I prefer to make my own observations about life and I am always open to changing my opinions once I have more information to my grasp. It’s about confidence in your own ability to perceive.

However, I believe quotes about confidence, that is, proverbs which build your self belief and trust in your perception are quite valuable. So here are a few of my favorite quotes about confidence for you!

I like to quote from a motivational text because you can read the quote within its source and reach a better more valid comprehension of what it is trying to express. I encourage you today to do the same: collect motivating and inspirational texts from various sources and keep them beside you: dip into them during the day. You need not read one from cover to cover – just see if a page or chapter has a short relevant message for you then and there.

This is a surprising but highly addictive and resonating source of positive attitude!
