10 Quick Creative Writing Ideas For Writers With Bloggers Block

Are you having trouble finding inspiration for your writing today?

Want to write a quick blog post but suffering from writers block? Or bloggers block?!

10 Quick Creative Writing Ideas

#1 Alphabet! Can you think of a topic beginning with A, B or C? Or D, E or F? Crazy though this sounds, this is my top creative writing tip for those days when you want to write an article on a long train, plane or bus journey and you are stuck for inspiration! At the very least you will go off into your own world of thought which will soon lead you to the very idea you seek lurking at the surface of your subconscious. Eleanor Roosevelt recommended this idea for moments when you want to make conversation but feel tongue tied. Start midway in the alphabet for variety!

#2 Social Proof. What are today’s hot blogging topics? Visit some of your favorite blogs and see how you react to the top posts: can you comment and write a post in response? I sometimes find this tactic triggers some of my most thought provoking and interesting posts. Be sure to link to your post on the blog that inspired you: perhaps even email the blogger and suggest you recommend each other’s posts to your subscribers. Invite readers to comment on both blogs. Great opportunity to highlight a hot topic and bounce off other people’s views and opinions. You’ll find fuel for further posts if you can get the discussion weaving!

#3 Keyword Research. Using Google’s keyword tool see if you can find a phrase related to your blogging theme with a good number of searches each month which doesn’t feature too much competition in Google search. Type the phrase inside inverted commas into Google search – under 50,000 results is worth targeting for a high ranking position. This will bring plenty of highly targeted free traffic to your blog long into the future. My top tip since this combines great content with free traffic!

#4 Look back over your previous posts. Is there a topic you could relate to, or one you could cover in more depth? Which of your last twenty posts received the most comments? Or which enjoyed the most traffic? Build on from this idea because you can be sure your readers will be pleased to hear further from you on this subject, and no doubt you have further insights you can share!

#5 What has been on your mind in the last few days? Have you experienced a problem? Perhaps one you solved? Can you share this with your readers? This is the top tactic for affiliate marketers and anyone seeking making quick money online by recommending products they can gain an affiliate commission on. Sign up to a network like Clickbank and see if you can match a popular product with the problem you are highlighting. Obviously if it is a product you really have bought to solve a problem for yourself then this is excellent material, especially as lots of other people will have the identical problem and already be searching online for a solution. They will readily respond to your honest review. Be sure to use a strong relevant keyword search phrase in your blog post title.

#6 Offer a free download from your blog or link to one your readers can download from a sharing site like Mediafire and write a brief synopsis of the ebook or audio or software and share how you gained inspiration from it yourself. If you already have a returning readership these people will really appreciate you giving them something for free, and if you are only just starting out then you can be sure to gain more popularity this way! Have a look on your computer hard drive: is there an ebook copyright free that you could give away? Or search online for a free ebook site. You can add your own link to build your subscriber list by linking to your squeeze page for extra clout!

#7 A list always makes for a great blog post, and these posts are usually the most socially popular too, because readers will tweet them and share them on social networks, bookmarking sites and email them to friends. The more quirky and entertaining you can make your post, the better your success rate! If you are stuck for inspiration then search for inspirational quotes websites and copy and paste your favorite quotes into your blog post. “10 Top Success Quotes” or “100 Best Bloggers Quotes” or create a pdf file and offer this as a free download from within your blog post – again, you can link inside this to your squeeze page to build your subscriber list. Other lists include people, like “30 Fantastic Female Racing Drivers” or tips such as “Ten Quick Creatice Writing Ideas For Writers With Bloggers Block” – or even “Seven Success Secrets To Making Quick Money Online” – well, you get the idea!

#8 Can you conduct an interview? This creative writing idea is best for blog posts you intend to schedule ahead but perhaps you already have some interview material you did previously, or maybe you could get straight on the phone or Skype and do an instant interview? Long sessions are boring so pinpoint just five or six key questions which your readers will eagerly devour! Be sure to add interviewing to your blogging arsenal soon. Michael Dunlop builds his very successful blogs around not only doing interviews with high flyers but also getting his photo with the interviewee! Visit IncomeDiary here.

#9 Write a blog post that is just a rant or a summing up of your own thoughts on a pertinent issue, perhaps something in the news, or a scam, or anything related to your blog theme. You are allowed to express your own opinions, you know! This is what helps you to stand out from the blogging crowd and grow an interested and possibly even an avid readership! Avoid being “Me Too!” at all costs! Just think of an issue you have some feelings about and let it all pour out. Often with this kind of creative writing it works best not to edit your draft at all but just publish it as is! Invite readers to comment and discuss their feelings too! This in turn will give you additional material for future blogging!
